Backend Developer | Do you want to revolutionize the sexual experience using Node.js/typescript, Kubernetes/Docker and CI/CD?
Sweet Tech is preparing for the future with millions of users. For this to succeed, we are in need of a backend developer who is willing to break new ground and come up with new and exciting ideas.
Sweet Tech is operating in a somewhat unconventional industry which means twice the fun but also twice the challenge. We are now growing in a rapid speed and preparing for the future with millions of users. For this to succeed, we are in need of another smart and ambitious backend developer who is willing to break new ground and come up with new and exciting ideas, so that the Handy and HandyFeeling work seamlessly, ensuring our customers the best possible experience.
Sweet Tech is a sex-tech start-up that combines innovative hardware with customizable digital connectivity to create a complete and fulfilling physical experience. Our mission is to create positive sexual experiences and make it available for everyone. We aim to provide tools for everyone to explore their body and sexuality and to make people feel comfortable in their own skin. We believe that the key for a good sexual health is openness, creativity and inclusion.
Our flagship product, The Handy, is available worldwide through our online store (www.thehandy.com) and connects out-of-the-box to our digital platform, Handy Feeling (www.handyfeeling.com). We also have other exciting projects we are working on and our aim is to be the world-leading provider of tech-enabled personalized pleasure — transforming the sexual experience while normalizing sexual curiosity and driving sex positivity.
We are a young but already profitable company, and we are backed by strong investors. We are growing fast (nice try but you can´t stop us Covid), and we are looking for the right people to join us in our journey.
Being a Backend Developer at Sweet Tech
Our software platform is a platform where products can connect - The Handy has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, offering several exciting options to the consumer. Today another person can control The Handy, and we have also made it possible to synchronize The Handy with visual content. The software supports both Google Home and Amazon Echo, and the platform is constantly evolving. For our software, we have around 6000 videoplays per day and over a thousand unique machines connected every day.
As one of the (soon-to-be) ten members of the Product Team, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the services needed for us to scale our software operations. The position is very hands-on, and you will a take part in the whole application lifecycle for the digital part of TheHandy universe.
You will specifically…
- Develop innovative solutions for our state-of-the-art IoT product.
- Participate in the entire application lifecycle; design, implementation, testing/debugging and day to day operations. (core, API, and everything that connects to this)
- Work on the whole development processes from A-Z
- Have a hands-on part in the company where you get to grow
Attracting the greatest minds and making the best solutions, we know that we need to focus on both attractive, efficient and modern technology. Therefore, we have decided to go with Kubernetes, Docker, NATS, Engine.io, Node.js / Typescript, Redis, Postgres, React, Nginx, Esp32, ESP-IDF and CI/CD as our technology stack.
We know that you might disagree with us on our technology choices – therefore you will have the opportunity to influence the stack if you find it sensible.
Positives about the position
- More and more responsibility to a specific preferred area of the system; perhaps tech lead or some sort of management role.
- You will be able to work on server architecture (not only coding); in other words, you will be able to work with the whole picture on how Sweet Tech will scale in the future.
- Core hours from 10-14
- Impact on the stack, and a hands-on part where both you and the company will grow.
We believe that you have a passion for technology and start-ups, and that you have extensive experience working with scaling software from an early stage. To be able to jump in right away, it will come in Handy if you have strong knowledge in Node.js/typescript, Kubernetes/Docker and CI/CD. Ideally you also have some experience with the rest of our stack or similar technologies, cloud infrastructure in general and experience from dev-ops and/or system architecture.
*You need to be willing to move to Oslo, Norway (we will help you), and non-EU/EEA citizens must have completed a bachelor’s degree to be eligible for a work permit in Norway.
