About the job

We are seeking a visionary and analytical Chief Financial Officer to support our mission of turning chess into a mainstream, globally followed sport. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the board and investors, you will be leading our work within Finance, Strategy & Business Development and Legal — and ensuring that our business scales sustainably while capitalizing on the massive growth opportunities ahead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the long term company strategy. Translating the company’s vision and mission into an actionable strategy with tangible business plans and budgets.

  • Build and nurture strong relationships to investors and other strategic partners. Plan the company’s long term cash management. Be main responsible end to end for the company’s fundraising efforts and M&A strategy.

  • Maintain strong cash flow oversight, ensuring the company has adequate financial stability and liquidity and the right balance of debt and equity.

  • Oversee the company’s finance function. Lead the company’s accounting, payroll and financial reporting functions and outsourcing partners, and ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and management reports.

  • Manage legal and compliance frameworks across global markets, with support of specialized legal counsel as required

  • Lead our work on Business Development. Be on top of all available internal and external data and challenge the status quo by providing relevant insights to support strategic decision-making, and analyze new business opportunities or risks.

  • Conduct regular business reviews to track progress and adjust course if required.

  • Be part of the company’s leadership team, fostering a culture of financial discipline, data-driven decision-making, and operational excellence.

We are looking for you who

  • Have proven experience as CFO, Head of Finance or similar role.

  • First hand knowledge from successful, fast paced environments like a start-up or scale-up, ideally within B2C, Digital Media or Gaming.

  • International mindset and orientation, since a lot of what we do is outside of Norway.

  • Proactive, hands-on doer mentality. We strive to achieve a lot with few people.

  • Excellent communications skills in Norwegian and English.

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or similar.

What we can offer you

  • Be part of an incredibly strong team, with backing from some of the most prominent people and investors in the world of tech

  • Being a leading force in making Chess an even bigger and more meaningful sport, transforming something that has been the same for centuries

  • Travel the world and experience one of the biggest games and sports grow

  • Flexibility on both where and how you would like to work. We care about what you do, not too worried about how you get there

  • A competitive salary and stock options program
