DNV GL Ventures was set up in 2020 in response to the energy transition and digital transformations facing our key industries. DNV GL’s Energy Transition Outlook forecasts a rapid decarbonization of the global energy system and by mid-century fossil fuels and renewables will almost equally share the energy mix. This massive change in our society will foster creativity and entrepreneurship.
We aim to bring the breadth of our expertise and experience to the start-up scene, with an mandate to bring strategic value back to DNV GL. Our search for start-up talent is an acknowledgment that large companies must look beyond its own four walls to rise to these opportunities.
Our mandate is to balance strategic insights and financial outcome, with a stronger emphasis on the first. We aim to develop a portfolio of 15-20 start-up companies that will be under management of DNV GL Ventures. Together with equity stakes in the company, our ambition is to channel our vast experience within the energy transition maritime industry.
We are now looking for an Investment Manager who is in tune with our purpose: “To safeguard life, property and the environment”. The right candidate will be a part of a team developing a good deal flow of investment opportunities, evaluates and prepare for investment decisions, and most importantly, nurtures the start-ups to success in collaboration with DNV GL’s high skilled and experienced colleagues. We believe this is how we well be the best investor for our portfolio companies.
Key Tasks:
- Establish strong connections and a wide network with other venture capital actors to ensure a good deal flow and de-risk investments
- Establish a solid network within the European start-up scene within our strategic areas
- Evaluate investment opportunities in close collaboration with the venture team and other stakeholders
- Take responsibility for developing investment cases by executing proper due diligence
- Maintain and build positive relationships with portfolio companies and help steer their development in the right direction
- Strong interaction with other internal units to ensure learning and value creation learnings for DNV GL.
Position Qualifications:
- Master’s degree, preferably with Business Administration / Finance or relevant
- At least 4 years of work experience within venture capital
- Strong networking and excellent interpersonal skills
- Passion and curiosity for how to create new businesses
- Able to start initiatives and go after opportunities proactively
- Ability to work independently• Experience and network from the start-up scene
- Good understanding of use of digital technologies
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
