Photoncycle is a cutting edge scale-up company within the renewable energy sector. We are now seeking accomplished and result-oriented Project Managers, Chemical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and Electronics Engineers to join our Business, Engineering, and Science team at Oslo Science Park.
Photoncycle develops the first of its kind energy conversion and long-term storage system for the detached household sector, enabling homeowners to store surplus electricity produced during the summer so it can be used to meet electricity and heat demand during the winter. A 3 m3 storage unit will contain 10,000 kWh of energy. The technology has been prototyped in Photoncycle’s state of the art laboratory at the Oslo Science Park, and independently validated by IFE. The Photoncycle system is being scaled to a pilot and further developed into a product. Photocycle collaborate with leading companies in business like Eviny and Volue. OBOS Block Watne will be the pilot customer for the system. Strong financial backers will ensure financing for the development of the company, as milestones are met.
The Photoncycle team will grow from 8 to approximately 25 people in 2024, with further significant expansion envisaged as the technology matures.
Overview of the roles
Project Manager
As a Project Manager in Photoncycle who will take a key role in overseeing, planning, and coordinating the building of a first pilot and product of our system and leading a team of engineers and scientists. You will be working closely with both the management team, engineering team and science team. Some of your key responsibilities will include comprehensive personnel and resource coordination, actively participating in technical decisions and be impactful in relation to both the product and the company.
Key things we are looking for: Proven track-record from Project Management and possess strong technical expertise from areas such as mechanical, electrical, process and / or electronics engineering.

Mechanical Engineer
As a Mechanical Engineer in Photoncycle, you will be a key player in shaping the future of renewable energy. The role involves significant responsibility and freedom, and you will take a crucial part in moving the company from a theoretical domain to a more product and hands-on focused domain. You will be working closely with the chemical, electrical, software, and controls engineers. Some of your key responsibilities will include contributing to innovation by shaping the final product design, actively engage in renewable energy innovation, visualize, model, and refine mechanical designs, 3D CAD Design and Design of piping & pressure vessels for efficient, safe renewable energy systems and FEA and theoretical calculations of for example heat exchangers.
Key things we are looking for: Experience from 3D CAD Design and FEA, design of manufacturing processes, hans on experience with piping, fabrication, processes, mechanisms and more.

Electronics Engineer
As an Electronics Engineer at Photoncycle, you will be a key player in shaping the future of renewable energy. The role involves significant responsibility and freedom, and you will hold a crucial part in the finalization of the final product. You will be working in a collaborative environment, and work closely with the chemical, mechanical, software, and controls engineers. Some of your key responsibilities will include design and implement electrical systems, working with software interfaces, especially in relation to hardware components and contribute to building the pilot by being adaptive and hands-on in the lab environment.
Key things we are looking for: Hands-on experience with designing, testing and/or implementing electrical systems, experience or knowledge from software development and demonstrated track record within electronics engineering.

Chemical Engineer
As a Chemical Engineer in Photoncycle, you will be a key player in shaping the future of renewable energy. The role involves significant responsibility and freedom, and you will take a crucial part in moving the company from a theoretical domain to a more product and hands-on focused domain. You will be working closely with the electrical, software, and controls engineers. Some of your key responsibilities will include the advancement of processes and products, ensuring they meet high standards of efficiency, quality, cost, and safety within a collaborative and innovative work environment, designing high-performance chemical processes, transforming technical knowledge to practical executable simulation models and acting as a bridge between scientific lab results and their physical product implementation.
Key things we are looking for: MSc or PhD in Chemical or Process Engineering, a strong technical expertise and the Capability to work efficiently in a smaller company and handle multiple aspects of the process engineering field.
